As you can appreciate, organising an event on this scale takes some effort, and requires a number of access permissions to be obtained and an appropriate camping ground big enough for all the tents and camper vans, and space for the traders and the fun and games that go along with the weekend’s events.
We have struggled to get the permissions resolved, both for the competition area and also for an appropriate camping field. Given the time required to complete mapping updates, and get the race planning sorted on updated maps, plus the challenge of finding a sufficiently large field, we believe it is better to cancel the event at this stage.
We recognise that people plan well ahead to include the White Rose in their holiday arrangements, so rather than persevere and have to cancel later, or run a sub-standard event, we felt it better all round if we announce cancellation at this stage.
We are all upset about having to make this decision, and recognise the disappointment that many regular White Rosers will feel, but we will now spend our energy making sure we have a superb event in 2025.
