A YHOA Night League event. Enter by end of Sunday 12th January to ensure a map of your choice. Entries will remain open, but limited by printed map availability.
We have arranged to re-visit Allerthorpe very quickly after our xmas regional as the original venue has deemed unfit for purpose at short notice. Unfortunately we are also now subject to FE’s revised charging structure so have to increase entry fees.
Long, Medium and Short courses are offered. Enter the course you have selected for the night league competition. An Introductory course is offered for those wishing to try night orienteering. This course is offered at a reduced entry fee.
Location: - Allerthorpe Woods
Fixture Date: - 18/01/2025
Location
Allerthorpe Woods are South of the A1079 near Pocklington. The road is signposted “Sutton upon Derwent 4” and is opposite the Jet petrol station. Follow the orienteering signs from SE753479 (what3words: resonated.shops.awakes)
Parking
Parking will be on forest roads. The access is narrow with little room for vehicles to pass. Please arrive before 1730 and do not leave until after 1830. Please park carefully as advised by marshalls.
TAKE CARE: competitors will be crossing the access road on their courses.
Terrain
Allerthorpe Woods have a patchwork of tree types and ages from tall pines to compact plantations and birches. Owned by Forest Enterprise, it is a flat lowland wood where the vegetation grows well on richer soil. In addition to the main tracks, it is criss-crossed by a network of woodland paths which are narrow but distinct.
Map
A new map by Paul Taylor. Scale 1:7500, with 2m contours.
