It may have been a bit damp underfoot, but we had a super day for running in Gilling Woods. And thanks to Coney Hill Farm for providing facilities and catering.

Firstly a thank you to everyone who attended on Sunday for being understanding of the parking situation. It wasn’t ideal but you were all patient and well prepared for it. I hope you’ll all agree that once you got to the event area itself we had put on a good day and the weather couldn’t have been better. The large number of compliments we’ve received on behalf of the event team has been much appreciated. A key to the day going smoothly was yourselves of course – orienteers just know what to do and, if you come across a problem, you’ll sort it or work round it. You’re understanding that not everything can be perfect and that we are all volunteers; you will have been in a similar position at some point in the past or future. I’m sure our workload and hassle will have been much greater if the event was for 300 random members of the public!
Major thanks are due to Emma McAnaw for planning great courses (and getting the controls out and back in) and to Charlie Adams for controlling and putting in such a long day on Sunday.
The vast experience of the event team (SI, parking, start, enquiries, control collecting, general help) made things run so smoothly and their efforts are greatly appreciated by all. I have to say I felt sorry for Bryan and Ian who undertook the lonely parking duty at the far end of the lane.
Thank you to the jury for being available in the event of a race complaint, I was pleased we didn’t need you!
Howard Galtrey of Coney Hill Farm was our helpful host and we look forward to working with him again on future events.
Wendy Carlyle took some photos on the day and we are most grateful to her for allowing the link to them, which is elsewhere on our results page.
There are some lost and founds (contact eborpermissions@hotmail.com about these):
Found: Red Monkey Water Bottle and red metal whistle
Lost: Tesla car key card (looks like a black credit card with the faded name Tesla on it)
