A whole weekend of events put on by EBOR and CLOK
EBOR and CLOK have decided to join forces and put on a weekend of events in Thirsk and Boltby. EBOR are running the Thirsk urban event on the Saturday and the Boltby forest event will be run by CLOK on the Sunday.
The whole weekend will be a lovely mix of urban and forest orienteering – plenty to get the legs moving and brain cells in gear!
Final details 14 March 2022.
Location: - Thirsk Town and Sowerby Flats
Fixture Date: - 19/03/2022
Location
Toilets will be situated at Sowerby Parochial Hall, which is very close to the start, finish, and download; approximately 1 km from the car park area.
Parking
Parking will be at Thirsk School and Sixth Form College – accessed from Gravel Hole Lane.
Parking will be £1 per car (please bring cash to throw into the bucket on your way in). Please follow the marshals instructions when parking.
Terrain
Mostly urban through through the narrow alleys and sometimes fiddly streets of Thirsk, with an off-road element round the common ground (rough grass) close to the river.
Young junior courses will remain completely off-road. The off-road paths can be muddy, especially after recent rain, so please bear this in mind when deciding what footwear to go for.
Please bear in mind that cattle roam the common ground freely – they are actually very placid and very very used to having lots of people, dogs, and children around them. As usual though, please be aware of running directly at them/close to them.
Map
Waterproof A3 or A4 maps (A4 maps for junior courses). 1:5,000 scale for courses 1 and 2, 1:4,000 for course 3, and 1:3,000 for courses 4 to 8. Original map by B. Griffiths (2014-2017), map extended to east by N. Harvatt (2018), and minor updates by E. McAnaw, H. Lecomte, and P. Batts (2022).
Registration
Pre-entries now open. Pre-entries will close midnight 10 March. We will order a few additional maps per course which will then limit the remaining entries on the race sign up link (final closing date midnight 17 March). You will need to enter by 10 March to guarantee an entry. No entry on the day. There is a 50% helpers discount (for senior courses) - please contact the organiser for the code for this.
Starts
Starts will be from 10:30 to 12:30.
Courses close at 14:30.
The start is located 1.1 km flat road walk from the car park. There are a couple of road crossings so juniors MUST be accompanied. The route will be well sign-posted.
The finish is very close to the start, so coats/warm clothes may be left near to the finish for collection after your run (if rain is scheduled we will look to provide a tent for this area) – items will be left at owners risk (the area is accessible by members of the public).
