EBOR’s famous annual Christmas event is back this year at York University on Tuesday 28th December.
UPDATEAs a result of the new vaccine booster programme, and the siting of a pop-up vaccine clinic in the sports hall area of the campus, we are no longer able to use the south car park. Details of the new arrangements are set out below under Parking

The university campus is, in effect, divided into three by the lake and University Road. University Road is out of bounds but it and the lake are crossed by several bridges (and one underpass). The layout of the buildings makes for interesting route choices and there are also open grassy areas and some small woodlands. In particular courses A, B and C use a small area of woodland and open field which involve some climbing and may be muddy for which studded footwear may be beneficial.
Notes concerning map symbols:
1. light grey is runnable. On this map it usually designates a covered walkway and is an accessible route choice.
2. Green circles show significant trees. Not all trees are mapped. A full list of sprint orienteering map symbols is available here,

Cagoules may be compulsory in the case of bad weather.
Although the university will be closed for Christmas and the roads on the campus will be much quieter than usual, take care when crossing any of the roads. There may still be some traffic. The university is also popular with the local people to walk and cycle. Please take care and be courteous to other users of the campus. The main road through the campus, University Road, is marked out of bounds and must only be crossed at the bridges or the underpass; please observe this and all other areas of out of bounds.
The University also has a large lake and everyone should be aware of the dangers of such a large body of water. There are several paths around the lake and a stroll around the lake is very pleasant, however in some places it is possible to get to the water’s edge. Very young children should be supervised at all times near the lake. Course E has one leg which runs close to the lake: parents should advise children competing on this course to take care on this leg.

Although a thorough risk assessment has been conducted by the organiser, orienteering is an adventure sport and you are taking part at your own risk.
